Donor Spotlight: Celebrating the Life of Dennis Frengle

Dennis and Trudi Frengle first became involved with Project Ethiopia in 2011 when Dennis decided to celebrate his 70th birthday in a meaningful way by visiting Ethiopia. He had heard about Project Ethiopia from his church minister in Portland, Oregon, and was inspired by our innovative, resourceful approach to solving problems and helping rural communities. That first visit sparked a lasting connection. Over the years, the Frengles made additional trips to Ethiopia with their daughter Karina and three of their grandchildren, giving them the chance to see firsthand how even small acts of generosity can create life changing impact.

Dennis believed strongly in the power of education to transform lives. As an educator, adventurer, and longtime advocate for the global community, he taught, volunteered, and traveled with a generous spirit that touched people across the world. For Dennis, supporting Project Ethiopia was more than just a cause. It was friendship, respect, learning, and shared hope. 

Project Ethiopia extends our deepest condolences to the Frengle family as Dennis passed away at the beginning of this year. In his honor, the family is currently raising funds through Project Ethiopia to build a school in the Dangla area, continuing Dennis’ legacy of learning, curiosity, and service and supporting his belief that generosity and understanding can bridge the widest distances. This memorial project invites all who knew Dennis or were inspired by his generosity to help carry his legacy forward.
